Popular LinkedIn advice kept me broke

Here's the 3 worst (will make you cringe):

There is so much waffle on LinkedIn.

Especially if you’re selling high-ticket services.

For the last 3 years, I listened. Tested most of it.

And… Found 90% was B.S. from people who’ve never built real businesses.

Here are the 3 biggest myths that make me cringe:

1) “Consistency is the key!”

Slight issue with this statement…

What if you’re consistency shit?

I see hundreds of people who post every day (have been for years) and still get no engagement.

So clearly there’s more to it than that.

  • Tracking your data

  • Speaking to your clients

  • Optimizing based on market feedback

If you consistently do that, then you’ll start winning.

2) “Commenting will blow up your engagement!”

Is it true that if you comment on hundreds of posts you’ll be more likely to get some engagement back?

Yes BUT is it time well spent?

Because if:

  • Your content sucks

  • You have no DM system in place

  • And your positioning is unclear

Not many people will comment back.

As the old saying goes: “You can’t put lipstick on a pig”.

And I see way too many people on LinkedIn trying!

So by all means engage with others but sort out the fundamentals first.

3) “Just deliver value and the leads will come.”

This one I learned the hard way.

I posted daily for 2 and a half years. And to be fair, the leads did come.

Just very slowly.

And extremely inconsistently.

This year I added reaching out to people who engaged with my content.

The result? We booked 375 calls in 4 months.

If you want a small trickle of leads yes, just post value.

But if you’re looking for a waterfall, start reaching out.

There are so many more myths I could bust.

But in summary: Only listen to people who have built the businesses you want to build.

Because likes and dollars are 2 very different things.

And if:

  • You’re selling a service more than 1k/mo

  • You want consistent, qualified calls from LinkedIn.

  • And you don’t yet have a system for reaching out to people
